Buying Tube Tickets - Beating the Crowd at Heathrow

Jump to last reply

Group of 6 arriving at Heathrow Terminal 5 mid-March on a Saturday morning. We are heading straight to St. Pancras/King's Cross on the Tube to catch the Eurostar to Paris. (I know, I know - but part of our party wants the experience of the train trip under the English Channel. I'll probably sleep through the entire thing.)

We are American, so nobody has a chip and pin credit card. I have sufficient British pound notes, but I understand one can only use coins or CC's in the Underground self-service machines. I don't have enough coins for 6 fares. From all I have researched online, the self-service ticket machines at Heathrow are therefore useless to us.

We were in London last year and lines at manned Underground Ticket Counters were horrendous wherever we went.

I have factored in 4 hours from our arrival at Heathrow to Eurostar departure. But I am scared that we will get bogged down trying to get into London. And if our BA flight is late or immigration is clogged.............

Can anyone reassure me?

Thank you in advance for any advice or info,
Spayneuterlady
