Hello all,
my husband and I are doing a tour through southern Spain after spending a night in Madrid.
We are taking the AVE train to Seville (2) and then looking at buses for connections to
Jerez (2)
Gibraltar (1)
Malaga (2)
Granada (2)
Cordoba (3) and then train back to Madrid for (4nights)
Firstly:
Taxis - from bus/train stations (if not close to accommodation) are they easy to get? Safe etc.
Is there a bus route to all of these towns.
Suggestions on accommodation with private bathroom under 100 euros a night, near the main attractions and where possible near the bus station.
Have chosen the one night in Gibraltar to see the rock, or can we do it in a day using transport between Jerez and Malaga? Thus giving us an extra day to spend in either town?
Thanks

First of all, when is this trip? If you have 12 nights for Andalucia using public transportation I'd probably do the itinerary a little differently. Do you have any particular interests ? Your schedule above seems to have alot of different overnight stops when OU could probably reduce and use base cities with Daytrips to eliminate moving around.
You can find good information about bus (and other) transportation options between cities in the Rough Guide.
Are you committed to starting and ending in Madrid or can you do an open jaw flight?
What guide book are you using that does not answer many of these queries?
Excellent bus connections between all the cities you mention, but I would perhaps use the considerably faster train at least between Sevilla-Córdoba and Sevilla-Málaga.
Taxis from bus/train stations are easy to get, safe and affordable. No big distances, even with the luggage surplus you wouldn't pay more than max 10€ from the bus/train station to the most central parts of these cities.
Affordable accomodation in central location that I have used recently and would recommend. All are basic hotel standard (private bathroom, TV, AC, safe, 24h desk):
Sevilla: Hostal Museo. In a lovely and local feel area next to The Fine Arts museum and ten-15 minutes walk to the cathedral and the Santa Cruz district. http://www.hostalmuseo.com/english/index.php
Málaga: Hostal Victoria, as central as it gets: http://www.booking.com/hotel/es/victoria.en.html
Córdoba: Hotel Córdoba Centro, three hundred meters north of the Mezquita and just off central Plaza de las Tendillas. http://www.booking.com/hotel/es/cordoba-centro.en.html
Granada: Hostal Rodri (haven't stayed here, but opened in 2009 and gets raving reviews). http://www.hostalrodri.com/?lang=en http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g187441-d589621-Reviews-Hostal_Pension_Rodri-Granada_Province_of_Granada_Andalucia.html
