Is bus travel reasonably priced ..we will be in Germany, France, Croatia, Czech Republic and Italy. Eurolines runs buses long distance between countries but otherwise they are not frequent and rather inconvenient times, etc. better IMO take the train for those far apart places or even cheap flights. Also investigate the Eurail Select Railpass - it is first class only if over 26 b ut for fully flexible travel it can be a bargain for your type of travel. check out these sites for train info - www.budgeteuroetravel.com; www.seat61.com and www.ricksteves.com. Inside countries like France and Germany there is limited inter-city bus service IME since the trains are so good - buses pretty much run where trains do not. Italy has a national bus service but not much for long-distance but regional travel. Bus travel can be much slower than trains and IMe no so comfy - Eurolines may go overnight on long hauls, etc. cheapest is not always the best IMO. Consider the first-class railpass and go in style for the trip of a lifetime and have total freedom in most countries to hop any train anytime. Buses may be the best option on many routes in Croatia however where trains are limited to a few main routes - especially if going along the coast where trains do not run.
You need to take a look at the many budget airlines in Europe. They are often cheaper than trains between countries and take a lot less time than a bus.

Bus fares in Croatia are cheap enough that you can buy them as the spirit moves you. If you love, Rovinj, stay four or five days; if you hate it, leave after one night.
