The Marozzivt bus goes from Rome to Sorrento, I believe twice a day. Although the website is in Italian, it is fairly easy to navigate. The thread above includes some tips on how to navigate through the bus website.

Yes - the buses all have bathrooms, and you can book seats in advance. The buses leave from the terminal NEXT to the Tiburtina Stazione (train station). If you do a search on my name I have other posts discussing the bus. Let me know if you need more help.

The competitor bus company between Roma Tiburtina and Sorrento is CURRERI:

This website is in both Italian and English.

NOTE that you can get to Tiburtina directly from Rome's Fiumicino Airport by taking the LOCAL airporter train (NOT the non-stop train going to Roma Termini Station), which leaves the airport train station every 30 minutes, and takes 45 minutes to reach Tiburtina station. One-way fare is 5.50 Euros. From there, hop on the CURRERI or MAROZZI bus direct to Sorrento!!!!! The CURRERI bus departs daily EXCEPT Sundays at 14:00 and arrives in Sorrento at 17:30. One-way fare is 16.00 Euros. Also check the MAROZZI website for schedules and fares.

We took the Marozzi bus service from Rome to Sorrento then Sorrento back to Rome (N.B. Bus does NOT have a bathroom!!) They stop off at a gas/petrol station at about halfway for you to go to the toilet and grab a drink.

It is a lovely trip by bus. If you have problems with the Italian site you can email the company and they will help you with any queries you may have.

The Marozzi bus DOES have a washroom. It is a very small cubicle at the middle of the bus "downstairs" where the middle exit door is located - different location from the usual washroom location in many North American buses like the Greyhound.

The Marozzi site even says like: at the website click on "Informazioni Marozzi" - then "Indicatori di Qualita" (Quality Information) - then "Comfort del Viaggio" (Comfort of Travel), you will see "% mezzi dotati di servizi igienici" (percent equipped with hygiene service) being 100%.

The Marozzi has directions in English on their website on how to book.

No bathroom on our Marozzi bus! We had no upstairs/downstairs - just a standard coach, one level. And, I know because my son wanted to go to the toilet and he had to wait until we stopped - he survived!!

Perhaps they run a couple of different types of coaches! It's no big deal anyway, who cant wait for 3hrs 45mins to go to the toilet???? Or 1.5hrs until you reach a rest stop!

Please notice that I put a "quote" over "downstairs". The bus does not have really 2 stories, but you go up some steps to the back half of the bus. The bathroom is tiny, but it is in the middle exit. Not many people know about this and I have only seen 1-2 people ever used it. The first time I saw that I thought the woman was going to get off the bus while it was running!

Some Marozzi buses do have two stories with two levels of seating. The PDF link I gave above explains how to book on the different levels if available.

We'll be going from Rome to Sorrento next month as well. I'm leaning more toward the bus rather than the train. Is there much of a difference between CURRERI or MAROZZI? Thanks for pointing out the English part of the Marozzi manual. Would it be a pain to rent a car and drive from Rome to Sorrento?

Disregard the question about renting a car. On the bus, does your luggage have to go in the compartment beneath or is there any room near the seats (above/below)?

Small pieces of luggage can travel with you. Large, voluminous, bulky and/or heavy luggage should be stowed in the underfloor compartment. Sometimes, if the bus is not full, you can try to bring larger luggage on board with you, and stow it in an empty seat next to you. This is really at the discretion of the driver. Usually, there is the expectation that large pieces be stowed in the underfloor compartment, particularly on a long-distance run such as Rome to Sorrento.

If you are concerned about your luggage being under the bus, it really isn't a problem. The bus only makes about 4 stops and at some of those no one gets on or off so the luggage bin isn't even opened.

Thanks for the tips! We're going to try very hard to limit the amount of luggage we take but it's good to know the bin is rarely opened.

I guess we'll see what happens next month.

The bus is on the autostrada most of the way. The few stops it makes (about 3-4) are between Sorrento and the autostrada (Pompeii Scavi, Vico Equense, Castellammare di Stabia). They will probably make a pit stop half way at the AutoGrill.

But it doesn't look like the Marozzi bus from Rome to Sorrento runs in October! =(

I requested a reservation with the CURRERI company. Hopefully, they will have availability!

I am planning to go on Oct 2. On the Marozzi site, there is one bus that leaves at 15:00 for Sorrento. When are you going in Oct?

I don't see Marozzi service on a Sunday after September, but there were buses other days in Oct.(only the 15:00 instead of the twice daily like they run in high season). Curreri doesn't ever have Sunday service.

leaving Rome on Monday, October 12th

You can take the 3 pm Marozzi bus on the 12th or the Curreri at 2pm. Both depart from Tiburtina.

I booked the 3 pm Marozzi bus for the 2nd. The english guidelines helped a lot.

When does the time change in Italy?

Departs Sorrento for Rome at 6am on Oct. 5 and Rome to Sorrento at 3pm.

I bought my tickets a day ahead because the departure is so early (6am)and I wanted to make sure I had tickets/seats (there were six of us). Curreri depart 1/2 hour later than Marozzi.

The pdf I linked above no longer has the English directions. The new pdf does have screen by screen pictures so you should be able to walk your self through the process.
