Burgundy and Lyon

My wife and I are traveling to France in August, and we are trying to divide up our days between Dijon, Beaune, and Lyon. We leave Paris on Tuesday, and need to be in Geneva some time on Monday (Tuesday morning flight). Any ideas and/or tips? Thanks in advance.

There is not only Dijon, Beaune and Lyon. You may be interested in Vezelay, the royal salines of Arc-et-Senans, Cluny, Tournus, Macon, Perouges too.
If you are interested in Roman stuff (there is a lot at Lyon) you may visit Vienne too.

It seems like you will have 6 full days available. I think Lyon deserves at least 3 full days, Dijon 2 days and Beaune 1 day. With travel time between these cities by train, that will consume all of your 6 days.

Good advice from Stu.

One of our members, Coco, has a very nice flat in Dijon. She is a wonderful hostess. (http://www.myhomeindijon.com/ )

There is also Auxerre.

Enjoy your visit.

I guess you should stay 3 days minimum in Lyon if you really want to enjoy your stay. There is so much things to do here and places to visit that less than 3 days would be pretty frustrating.

If you don't know the city, you should (in my opinion) search for accomodation close to bellecour, which is a central area of Lyon.
Bellecour is really close to the old city, and there is a lot of restaurants and shops in that area. You can also visit museum, the Opera (which has been elected best Opera in the world for 2017 !) is also amazing.

If you're searching for accomodation, you can go on Appart'Ambiance website, which provides aparthotels in every Lyon's districts.

www.appart-ambiance.com

And if you don't know the city, here is a description of every districts : https://www.appart-ambiance.com/en/lyon-districts
