ribeira, not the Spanish government but the government of the capital region of Madrid has declared bullfights as part of their protected heritage.
If you read the article, you would have noticed that there is no uniform support or opposition among the Spanish autonomous communities.
Bullfights have long been outlawed in the autonomous community of the Canaries.
Catalonia, the second largest community, has voted to outlaw bullfights and is currently in the lawmaking process.
