Three of us arrive into Budpest the night of the 27th of July and have to be in split Aug 2nd to depart for a 8 day sale. We are trying to decide where to go along the way....So far our thoughts are
Spends 2-3 days on budapest and then either take a train to vienna and from vienna fly to split
Take the train from budpest to Split but stop in Zagreb along the way
Was also thinking of maybe stopping at a city in Bosnia or Slovenia
also, was thinking of maybe renting a car but do not want to spend enormous sums...
MANY THANKS!
Budpest to Split.....What cities to stop at?

The easier way will be taking train from Budapest to Zagreb, then to Split.
Budapest is an interesting city, to see most tourist sites will take 2-3 days, more for some daytrips.
Zagreb old town is worth at lest one day visit.
