I wanted to give an update for people going to Iceland .It was a great country.I stayed at the nicest place I've been at on vacation. Castle and Embassy luxury apartments in Reykjavik. I stayed at their Embassy apartments, which was perfect .A few blocks from the main square and on a quiet street near the Russian Embassy. The upgraded us to a two bedroom for free. It had everything and for three people was cheaper than the youth hostel would be
Make sure to try the famous hot dog stand in Reykjavik,it is called something like The Best.Anyhow it really was.The Blue Lagoon was nice, but it was too touristy for me.They charged the equivalent of 28 euros,so hardly any locals go there anymore.Be sure to bring your own towels and bathing suits, because the rental is high.
Bakery goods and coffee are pretty cheap when eating ou in Iceland..Also dont miss the Coca-Cola.It is the best in the world because they use real sugar and icelandic water.
Of course there are so many must sees on the ring road a little off of it.You will take alot of pictures.Waterfalls ,Geysir,Volcanoes ,Glacier, etc.
The people all can speak English, and are very helpful. Also classic American cars are popular, which was amazing to me.
Check out the night life in the capital.Especially in the summer

Have to say TravelRob is right about the hot dogs and Coca Cola. I say it is our national dish because it is what we eat most of!
It is a pity that the Blue lagoon is so expensive, in comparison to the local public swimming pools, but it is definitely worth one visit.
Just went to the bakery today and paid ISK 1700 for one bread, one crossant and one sweet pastry. That's more than a tourist guide earns in one hour as an employee - before tax. I'm glad foreign TravelRob finds it pretty cheap because Iceland has in the past had a bad reputation for being expensive.
Happy travels.
Iceland Tour Guide-That doesn't sound cheap at all and it wouldn't fit into my budget.I went last summer and baked goods were priced no where close to that.Did something happen? I know alcohol is pretty expensive there and thats why the people from Iceland always shop at the duty free store when coming back.
I also liked your supermarket Bonus for reasonable prices. For the really thrifty ,they can stop at the chain Ikea and grab a quick lunch too.
