budget for Paris

Jump to last reply

my fiancé and I are travelling to Europe and hoping to go in June 2014. I know this is the most expensive time of year but it is the only time we can go due to study breaks and we don't want to go in winter.
I am wondering how much roughly should we budget for 3 nights/ 4 days in Paris? I've put the main things into categories.
SIGHTS: We want to see some of the main sites and do some of the main things like climb the Eiffel tower, go into the Louvre etc as well as spend a day at Versailles which is a must do for me!
ACCOM: we were thinking of just staying in a hostel to keep the cost down as much as possible. as long as the hostel is not something from a nightmare than we are all good with something pretty basic.
FOOD: When it comes to food we don't want to be eating huge meals all day, but we do want to be able to get in on the amazing French food but on a budget if possible.
TRANSPORT: when it comes to transport I have looked on the lonely planet website and it says that you can walk or bicycle around for the most part which we are more than happy to do, so if this is the case transport shouldn't cost much if anything except for going to Versailles
not sure about this but a friend who is going to Europe this year said that you can get an international student identity card which gives you discounts on this but im not sure although I do know we can both get them as we are both 20 and students.
so basically, how much would it cost for 3 nights/ 4 days in Paris including hostel accommodation, sight seeing, food and transport with all of above taken into consideration?
thanks :)
