Budapest to Prague itinerary advice anyone?

Jump to last reply

Planning the 2+ week itinerary for Vienna, Budapest and Prague next spring. This will be the start of a 6 week trip that includes Israel. We have our flights booked into Vienna and that's not changeable. The Vienna to Budapest train is a nice short trip, but 7+ hours train travel from Budapest to Prague doesn't sound like much fun. Anyone have advice on how to make this travel leg more appealing? Don't want to travel on the overnight train and car rental doesn't seem to be an option.
Here's the itinerary so far:
Day 0: Flight from USA to Vienna
Day 1-5 Vienna, a day trip to Melk in here
Day 6-10 Budapest, a day trip to Szentendre in here
Day 11 Budapest back to Vienna for the night then on to Prague the next day,
OR Budapest to Prague, long train ride? OR bus? Advice anyone?
Day 12-16 Prague, a day trip to Kutna Hora
Day 17 (flexible on the dates) fly from Prague to Tel Aviv for a totally different part of this trip!

Any itinerary suggestions are most welcome!
