When is the trip, and what is the rest of the itinerary? Any chance you can fit the use of FinnAir into your trip - - i.e., fly transatlantic into or out of Helsinki? This is a longshot, but you might be surprised at how something might work out.

Thanks for the advice. I am locked into taking United or Delta over... Between Budapest & Berlin I can choose whatever.... Then, I will meet my family in Berlin and travel through Germany.

Take the train & 8 hours of nice countryside & actually quick trip, see Prague. It is well worth it. Berlin is just 4 hours more up the track. I think we paid about $60-70 2 years ago for Berlin-Dresden-Prague-Budapest, but buy the train tickets there.
