Brussels winter romantic getaway
will have 4 days between flights in/out of Brussels airport next January. Looking for a romantic "castle" type hotel with good food & a spa anywhere within a 2 hour drive. Suggestions? Has anyone tried either Ch. St. Gerlach or La Butte aux Bois - both near Maastricht? Price is not a major consideration, looking for somewhere we will feel pampered; and somewhere that will be enjoyable in wintertime (ie roaring fireplaces rather than lovely gardens....). Anything in vicinity of Lille, Namur, Aachen, Antwerp, Maastricht, etc. We have previously been (loved) Bruges, Brussels, Ghent, Amsterdam, Luxembourg - so they are not in the running this time. Where do sybaritic Bruxellois go for anniversary weekends?

Sybaritic ?
I can be considered Bruxellois, living in the suburb (Waterloo).
When I want a romantic escape I go to Firenze...
Now, the only time we went for a week-end in Beligum we went to Spa. that is where we wanted to go :

We went instead to Radisonn Blu but albeit it was ok, it was not great. We will go some time to Lebioles.

Wow, I get that Europe is easier to get around than North America but still, surely people sometimes want to get out of town somewhere nice for a couple of days, not involving the hassle of an airplane? I did peak at the Martin's Hotels website but it sounded a bit corporate - has anyone actually experienced these places? We don't want anything remotely suggestive of Holiday Inn or a "holiday camp".... Really appreciate any advice

Our neighbours stayed here earlier in the year: http://www.kasteeltjehattem.com/
It was a romantic weekend away without their kid and dog (we dog sat) and they loved it.
The website seems to be only in Dutch, but it is supposed to be the smallest chateau hotel in the Netherlands. It has just 8 rooms.
