Brussels or Luxembourg City??

Going to Benelux next month for a week. After Bruges I will have one full day and overnight free before heading to Antwerp. I am trying to decide between Brussels or Lux. City. Or perhaps other suggestions in the area?
Thanks!

I would stick with Brussels and stop by Ghent on the way down for a couple of hours and visit the Saint Bavo cathedral to view the famous Adoration of the Mystic Lamb by Van Eyck and some paintings by Rubens -- and even tour the Dutch Castle. A lot of people tend to overlook this wonderful city.

I would definately pick Brussels. The main square (Grand Place) alone is worth the trip! Also, make sure to visit the Sablon square and the Museum of Fine Arts; they show paintings from Dali, Rubens, Breughel...

Another vote for Brussels. I was just there last weekend and enjoyed it. It would be perfect for the time you have anc certainly convenient to Antwerpen. You ought to take Budman's advice and spend a couple of hours in Gent on the way. Going to Lux from Brugge would be via Brussels. I think that it is 4 or 5 hours each way from Brussels to Lux city. I visited Lux for one night a few years ago and IMO don't think it would be worth your trouble.

We will be traveling by train from Bruges to Brussels. I think it would be a wonderful idea for us to stop and see Ghent on our way!

However, there are 3 of us and we will each have one small suitcase with us.

Is there anywhere that we can stow our luggage while we tour Ghent for a couple of hours? Does the train station have lockers?

Thank you for your help! Laurie

Laurie,
Yes, there are lockers in the Gent Sint-Pieters train station (main station).
Small: 1.36 EUR/24u
Medium: 2.73 EUR/24u
Large: 3.22 EUR/24u

Recommend Brussels. If you can find anything to do in Lux City you are craftier than I ever was. Gets my vote as the dullest place on the Continent.

Luxembourg is dull but pretty and green - lots of parks, etc. It can be a good base, especially for families with kids, to use for exploring the surrounding region - and the cycling is supposed to be great. But I wouldn't send adults there on their own, unless they were stressed cyclists who had just overdosed on big city travel.
