Can anyone recommend a non-chain hotel for Brussels and/or Kassel? We are thinking of staying near the station in Brussels, is that a good idea? Thanks in advance.
Brussels, Kassel

Without knowing your pricepoint, In Brussels, Le Dixseptieme (Near Gare Centrale, Grand Place) or the Manos Stephanie (Ave Louise).
What station?
Don't stay in North(= Nord-Noord) or South(= Midi-Zuid)station areas.
Only the Central Station area is doable.
Especially between the Central Station and the Grand Place/Grote Markt.
The station is Midi where we will arrive on the Eurostar from London. We are then thinking of taking the train to Basel. Price-wise between 150-180 Euro
