My sister and brother-in-law will be flying home on British Airways this spring, leaving Edinburgh and flying to Philadelphia, with a short layover in Heathrow. The reservations were made a few months ago, but they've been receiving emails about the times changing, so now they have 65 minutes from landing in Heathrow before catching their flight to Philadelphia.
Is an hour long enough, since they are flying on the same airline, but changing planes? Also, my brother-in-law called British Airways to ask if their luggage would need to be rechecked at Heathrow or if it would be loaded in Edinburgh and sent straight through, and he was told that would be at the discretion of the gate agent. That part, in particular, sounds rather odd to me.
Thanks!

It is all in T-5 and the luggage should be checked through. (I think 'it is up to the agent' is just standard boiler plate response)
If the EDI flight is close to on time they have a good chance.
65 minutes is a legal connection - but I would see if you can change one of the flights as even though you have lots of rights (especially with an EU airline from an EU airport) it's still a pain to sort out if for some reason you miss the connection.
But here's the process you'll go through
