brezza - would like your advise on Bassano!

Hello brezza,

I saw one of your postings here on Fodors where you stated you are from Bassano del Grappa. I am planning to go there (from Venice) but would like to know if I can add Asolo and Marostica in the same day. Is it possible to do all three in a day via train and/or bus? Or will adding one town, say Asolo, be more realistic.

I found a tour company that has all three but it's pretty pricey (although I can afford it). The one nice thing about the tour (8.5 hours long) is that there is a maximum of 8 people, there is also a visit to a villa, and the tour ends with a visit to a vineyards. However, I don't want to be on a tour (I'm an independent traveler) especially if we are rushed from one town to the next.

Thank you!

Monica

Hi Monica -

Yes, I know - I really shouldn't open other people's mail ...

Will an answer from me do?

Yes - you can do all 3 in one day.

Hi Steve, everyone is welcome to provide their input! Do you have suggestions of which town to see first, second, third and what is the best way via bus or train?

Thanks!

Monica - Bassano is an easy train ride from Venice (- about 70 mins).

And you can reach Marostica easily by bus from Bassano (10-15 mins). (The Bassano-Vicenza bus stops just outside the town walls ...)

Asolo is about 30 mins by bus from Bassano. (You can also get there from Castelfranco, Treviso or Montebelluna ...)
The bus stops at Ca'Vescovo (- on the main road below town) - from where there is a shuttle service (- not very frequent ) up to Asolo itself.

I'd suggest an early start as getting to Asolo can be a bit time-consuming. You need to plan it carefully around bus timetables ...

Hope this helps ...

Steve

Hello Monica, We love Bassano and spent 5 days in that area in 1999. Plan to give it some time. I agree with Steve that Asolo will be the tough one to access. Good luck !

Hi Steve and Bob,

Thanks for the information. Unfortunately I will have just the 1 day to tour this area so I have decided to go with the tour company. I did some research in the bus schedules and it's not really doable for me. The tour will give me the opportunity to see all the sights (even though just in 1 day), as well as having the opportunity to meet others on the trip and not have to worry about transportation logistics.

Thanks!!
