I am trying to book train tickets from Pisa Airport to Florence for April ( Good Friday ) after reading the seat61 website I thought I would have some issues BUT not two months out. It's still saying solution not purchasable ( or something like that) thinking it's going to be busy on that day ( and hoping to save a fraction of time) I wanted to get my tickets sorted before we went but I seem to have hit a brick wall with the official train website.
Any suggestions?

Also hoping to arrive in Florence early afternoon and am thinking of getting Duomo tickets around 4 ish. Anyone know the best and easiest site to use( but without the huge Mark up) and if we get timed tixs do we still have to queue?

Pisa to Florence is regional trains so it isn't worth buying in advance. There is a ticket machine at the airport station so just buy it then. You can't reserve seats and the fares are the same bought in advance or on the day. If you want to check fares use a date within the next seven days.

Don't forget to validate your ticket using the yellow box on the station platform before you get on the train.

I assume you mean tickets to climb the Duomo? If so, AFAIK, there are no advanced ticket sales. And I think the Duomo closes at 5, so your plans to get there "4-ish" could be a problem.

You didn't say if you're staying in Florence, but my advice would be to get up early the next a.m. and go to the Duomo then. You'll avoid some long lines.

Thanks everyone. I just wait till the day.
Yes we are staying in Florence. Maybe I will just get up early Saturday a.m and go then to the Duomo. Although I would still like to prebook and I could have sworn I saw a website which allowed you to book in advance, I must be getting it mixed up with Ufuzi. Maybe we will do that on the Friday afternoon instead.

As for train tickets, you can't buy the tickets for R trains online more than a week in advance. It's not a good idea as the R tickets purchased online have lots of restrictions that walk up purchased tickets don't. Cost is about 6€.

You can buy bus tickets in advance which will probably be more comfortable than the train. Travel time is about the same. They are running a special right now for 4.99€

I didn't pay attention to the hours listed for the church (I just looked at chiusura which means closed). It seems the hours will be greatly reduced that weekend. Expect long lines.

Domenica e festività religiose: 13,30 - 16,45
Giovedì Santo: 12,30 - 16,30
Venerdì Santo: 10,30 - 16,30
Sabato Santo: 10,30 - 16,45

Thanks for the info re the trains, I will just get them when we arrive and fingers crossed it's not too busy.
It seemed a good idea at the time to book going over Easter so no days off work, so hopefully this won't mean we will miss out on anything!!
