Bolzano vs Merano

After hiking in the Dolomites, i thought about sending a few nights in one of these cities. Have just done a quick look, but Merano seems to catch my eye more then Bolanzo. They look close to each other, maybe stay in one and do a daytrip to the other one? Would three nights be enough time to cover both?

Merano is much nicer. You can spend three nights or a whole week there and wouldn't run out of things to do and see.

Bolzano has Otzi the Iceman! Well worth a visit, IMO.

I visited Bolzano but stayed in Merano. Check out the thermal baths in Merano they are great! About 15 different pools. All sorts of different kinds. There is also a very interesting garden nearby. The Gardens of Trauttmansdorf Castle.
In Bolzano seeing Otzi at the museum was a highlight.

Didn't get to Merano but stayed 5 nights in Bolzano and loved it. Did day trips into the mountains and also to the city of Trento, and of course visited Otzi.

Thanks sembach. I use a Panasonic FZ300 right now. It's (slightly) smaller and lighter than my Nikon DSLR and I don't have to bother with switching lenses as it has a zoom.

thanks isabel

I am looking at the Panasonic ZS100 to take on trips instead of my Nikon 5300. but i see its about $200 more then the FZ300. Both get high reviews.
