Blow dryers in Italy/Greece
Can my OD take hers with her on her ten day tour of Italy and Greece? She is staying in about six different hotels, so don't know if they will provide them. She is on an educational tour, so the level of hotels is not great. Should she buy one over there? Of buy a dual voltage? Or go au naturale?

She can take it, but she'll need to make sure there's a 220 setting on the voltage, and buy a Continental adaptor so the plug will go into the wall.
Or she could have more fun and try to find one at a store.
She could go au naturale, but if she's a teenager, I suspect that might go over like a brass cloud.
Happy travels,
Jules

Some hotels provide hairdryers, others do not. You could ask each of the six by email whether they have them. My observation has been that, except in 4 or 5 * places, the hair dryers are often not the kind we are used to. Instead there is a motor and heater element in a box attached to the wall, and there is a flexible hose that you use to direct the hot air toward your hair. These don't work terribly well, and if there has been smoking in the room previously they make your hair smell icky. If blow dry is important to OD I recommend buying a dual voltage travel-size (meaning small and light) dryer and a wall plug adapter.

I've burned up every hair dryer I've ever taken on vacation in Europe. It doesn't matter what the voltage, etc. If you use it on "high" it won't last. I finally hunted one down in Amsterdam and just change out the plugs.
