Blocked credit card after trying to buy tickets from Renfe

Jump to last reply

Just tried to buy some train tickets on Renfe using an (American) Visa card. The purchase failed after the Verified by Visa step. Turns out my bank blocked the purchase from Spain. (No I hadn't called them. Didn't think it was necessary any more.) But the bank also blocked my credit card. Which caused problems on various other purchases already in train.

I had to provide a lot of personal information and confirm many other transactions to get the card unblocked. Looks like the credit card companies are getting more serious about fraud. As it is, my card was unblocked for purchases from Spain for only a week. I'll have to call again later as well as just before my trip.
