big family in Ireland

We are a family of 6 coming to Ireland in July. We fly into Shannon. 2 adults and 4 kids. Would love suggestions on where to stay the first couple of nights and some specifics on what to do around Shannon.

Are the children actual children or just your children (we've had posters try to convince people that their 18 and 20 year olds were "children"?

So will you be looking for 2 or 3 rooms - and what type of bed configuration? And what type of budget? If you get roll-aways to make a triple do understand that outside the US a "cot" is a baby crib.

How long do you have, what are the parties interests, have you any idea of the places other than Dingle where everyone who has never been wants to go, Doolin which is the only place for Music an Kinsale where you can get food,

You might gather that I don't tend to recommend the usual Tourist haunts.

funny….my children (well 2 of them at least) are not really kids….ages, 18, 16, 13 and 9. I am looking at Duneree B and B for the first night. We fly into Shannon. Yes we will need to get 2 rooms. Thought we could do the castle and local places the first night there? We did rent a car from Hertz. Seem to be the best deal, automatic, van style. Hopefully it will be fine. Any suggestions on fun in the Shannon area for the 1 st night?

We are only there for 1 week. I know, not long enough, but just a taste of Ireland with the kids….my husband and I will be back for a longer stay another time. This trip is in honor of my husband's parents, who have both recently passed and have been to Ireland 2 times. We know they would have loved that we are taking the kids…even though brief.

Duneree is in Bunratty and whilst the village has a Castle, excelent folk park, 2 pubs a couple of Tourist shops.. wouldn't be my idea of a night.. My usual comment is that Bunratty is fine for the last night if having a Castle Banquet and going straight to bed for an early flight.. Ennis would have more to offer, possibly Lahinch.. especially for a couple of nights.. http://goo.gl/maps/xMOHV has some points for West Clare..

It depends where you aim to go from There?

So our first night is a for sure booked at a Bed and Breakfast in Shannon. What are your suggestions from there. Should we go south to Cork, then to Killarney and Dingle or go north west to Galway and Co Mayo?

Love some ideas of great things to see….other than all of it.
