We are hoping to call the US a few times during our stay in southern France. I seem to remember using calling cards when we were there over 10 years ago. Is this still the most reasonable option - to use a calling card and a payphone (though maybe pay phones aren't as frequent as they once were).
If a calling card is the best choice - where does one purchase this?
Thanks for the help and advice!

The calling cards that you can buy for 7.50€ give you calls to North America for less than 0.02€ a minute. Most news kiosks sell them.
Skype - if you take a laptop and have internet access.
