Best way from NY to Malaga?

What is the best / cheapest way (which may not be the same) to go from NY to Malaga, Spain? Any ideas?

Check out which low-budget carriers fly to Malaga from big airports in Europe on

http://www.whichbudget.com

Then try finding a cheap flight from NY to one of those airports.

As for the most convenient way, it's most likely flying to Madrid and taking an Iberia or Spanair flight to Malaga from there (there will be quite some every day so you can make a nice schedule according to your international flight).

You're right, viajero2. Should have been more specific. NY like JFK, NY. Sorry.

Try Orbitz. The cheapest would probably be Iberia to Madrid, then transfer to Malaga.

Iberia has a 6:00 PM flight from JFK that arrives in Madrid at 7:10 AM.

Here's another possible alternative:

if you can get a cheap (real cheap) flight to Gatwick, EasyJet flies from there to Malaga. However when using ANY carrier for a trip within Europe please keep in mind the checked luggage restrictions, the various airports they leave from/arrive to, etc.

In the end, you might really be better off simply flying to Madrid and onward using the same airline unless the alternatives save you significant amounts of money.

Try Aer Lingus: They just came out with a 39-Euro each way Dublin-Malaga and they are competitive on JFK-Dublin fares. The former requires purchase by Sep 5 and travel beginning 1 Sep. Aer Lingus probably requires advance purchase on best TransAtlantic fares. You might even get time to have a pint in Dublin between flights.

Aer Lingus tries to go 'head to head' with RyanAir on intra-Europe flights.
I'm not sure of the URL: AerLingus.ie or AerLingus.com

You might get a bargain using AirPlus Comet. They use to have a direct flight out of JFK to Malaga but now you have to change planes in Madrid. I think you have to book them with an agency but here is their phone number. 877-999-7587. They have a website that gives you an idea of their prices. Low season JFK to AGP is listed as $349. www.airplususa.com I think they are owned by Spanair.

You might also check aireuropa out of Newark.
