Hi Papni-
I'd definitely drop Positano as it will be difficult and (more important) time consuming to get there from Rome. Instead do Rome, Florence, Venice. Equal amount of time in each place. Take the train. If possible, fly out of Venice.

First - you can;t see 4 different places in a week. You can get to them, but you won;t have time to see anything.
And how many days do you really have? You can;t count the day you arrive and the day you leave? So do you have 7 days on the ground? 6? 5?
Also, you don;t want to go to Positano in March - a beach resort in the off season with many hotels and restaurants closed for the season and ferries not yet running. As for Florence Rome and Venice in a week - again not doable.
I would stay for a week in Rome with a day trip to Florence (on one of the days when things are open). Or vice versa - based on you major interests.
Otherwise you will spend more than half your time just getting from one place to another.
And it wouldn't be hectic - it would be frantic, sleepless and you would come back a lot poorer and having seen very little of Italy.
This is definitely a time when less is more.

Rome 3/29
3/30
3/31
Florence 4/1
4/2
Venice 4/3
4/5
Now Positano would take a day to get to and back from or much of a day so you'd have to ax one city or add more days.
As it is as I did you really do not have much time in any city.
Trains are pretty straight forward - www.trenitalia.com for schedules and fares - you can always get on trains once there if you want flexibility but you can nab nifty discounts if you book far in advance - but note that those tickets are non-changeable or at least hard to change so be sure of your times.
For lots of great info on Italian trains I always spotlight these IMO fine sites - www.seat61.com (good info on online discount tickets); www.ricksteves.com and www.budgeteuropetravel.com.

At this late date you will be lucky to find hotel rooms in the cities you mentioned. I would do two cities only in the
short time you are in Italy. If this is the only trip that you anticipate making to Italy, then I advise you to go to
Rome and Venice only. Look at booking.com or Venere.com and
see what hotels in your price range are available in each city during your visit time and book them. Don't forget that
Easter is a very busy time in Rome and this year the matter is
further complicated by the choosing and installation of a new pope. Oh, and have a decent map of each city in front of you when you choose each hotel.

Well, by waiting this late you've probably missed most or all of the cheap train fares and most or all of the affordable accommodations. Not to mention, do you really want to fly all the way to Italy and back and see nothing but train stations?
