Best time to visit Netherlands?

My husband and I want to visit the Netherlands. We can go in September from 9/7-9/24 or we can go 9/27 into October. Would one time be preferable?

Weather mostly since it appears that the most crowded times are in the summer. I just want to avoid the rainiest time and I'm not sure whether our later dates into October could be significantly more rainy than the dates earlier in September.

So it is a weather question? The answer is who knows. Not even the weather service!
I have to ask why does rain affect your vacation?

Since we could go either time, if one month is generally more rainy than the other, I would prefer to travel around and walk around when it is more likely to be drier. It's just more pleasant to me to travel in better weather and not be outside trying to see sights and take photos when it is raining more days than not. I know that rain can happen at any time but I'm just trying to improve the odds of better weather since we can go at either time. Some countries have more of a rainy season and I didn't know whether October in the Netherlands tended to be more rainy than earlier in September.

According to this World Weather site, it's slightly rainier in October and slightly colder. The other thing to consider is that by October the days are starting to get noticeably shorter. I'd definitely pick September.

Thank you. That is very helpful. I didn't think about the issue of shorter days.

We did a family trip to Germany a number of years ago in late October. It was getting dark at 4:00. Amsterdam is as farther north than Quebec City (making June days incredibly long, but fall/winter days very short). For me that would be a factor. Good luck with your planning!

But weather is naturally unpredictable; so history may never give you a forecast.
