Best time to visit Iceland

I would like to visit Iceland and also to see the Nothern Lights. I know Oct to March is a good time. But in Nov-Jan it's winter n it's best time to see NL but lots of attractions and roads are closed.

I was thinking maybe October or Feb/March when NL is still prevelant and visible while the attractions are open.
Any opinions on these??
