Depends on what you like to do! I play Irish music and would visit the traditional pubs to listen in or play. I love to hike, so would plan hiking. My husband loves gardens, so we visited Powercourt and other gardens. Get the drift? There's lots to do but you need to give us some hint as to what you're interested in.

There are a whole range of the usual tourist places, towns that have a magnetic draw because of particular touring guide writers. If all you have in mind is Dublin then prepare to have your eyes opened to a different world. There are main factors unknown in your question such as your interests, rough dates and length of visit. Which airports just one or open jaw, car hire, tour bus, public transport?

Alcieacooper, I would suggest visiting the IRISH NATIONAL STUD, a beautiful farm for breeding thoroughbred racing horses about 40 miniutes from Dublin by car. Also accessible by public transportation according to the web site.

Check out the Destinations page Fodor's has for Ireland:

That'll get you started and then you can come back with specific questions.

We focused on outdoor activities/sites on the southwest/west side of the country. Not sure how well that will translate in April. Read my trip report/blog to get some ideas.

With just 5 days you won't see much, especially anything 'off the beaten path'.
Ireland is a big place. No one can give you ANY useful advice until you do a bit of the research already suggested. With just 5 days -- Dublin is the last place I'd personally go. I'd spend my time on the west coast. But if I was stuck flying in/out of Dublin, my options would be limited.
So you 'wanna' click on destinations at the top of this page and get some ideas of your own . . . then we can help you refine things.
