Best place to stay in Barcelona

Jump to last reply

Sometimes after a long, depressive winter, you want to hasten spring, and then you go to a warmer place. For example Barcelona!
Unfortunately, it not always offers you a warm weather, but it’s always compensated by the warm people! There’s always a calm siesta at noon, and every night you have a sparkling fiesta. Not to mention the turning your head overwhelming beauty, which is all around: in every corner, in every building, in every street lamp…
But! In order to make this journey perfect you have to choose a right place to stay.
Because it is the hotel you see in the beginning and in the end of every day, and it can seriously influence your mood.
If ordering a de lux suite in some Ritz or Grand hotel is not your habit, and you spend hours in the web in order to find a compromise between “It’s my vacation and I deserve this indulge!” and “Oh, my God! I’ll just sleep there…” trying to get a FIVE STAR SERVICE FOR A MEDIUM BUDGET… (Yes, it’s possible! :) )
I’ll shorten your way to finding a right place.

So… You’re arriving from your winter-work-problems-thoughts-whatever by two flights, with all these endless duty-frees, passport controls, luggage waiting, early wake-ups, after a harassing passports-money-tickets-what to wear operation… And moreover, you could catch a cold somewhere between all this! (that was my case…)
And… You pleased to find out, that your hotel is just in 5 MIN. WALK FROM THE BUS (PLACA CATALUNYA), ON THE ELEGANT AND QUIET BOULEVARD ( VIA DE LES CORTES CATALANES), which is already good. You call the massive antique door and just two seconds after a nice “ola!” your luggage is taken to the room by a charming portier (“How was your trip? Would you like some coffee-tea?”)…

Well, how does it look like you can see from their web page. Yes, guys, IT LOOKS SO GOOD INDEED. You feel there like being a guest at some noble XIX century family apartment.
If you ever dreamt of having some bohemian aunt or uncle in Europe, at whose place you can stay – this is your chance to experience the feeling! :)

But what you can’t see is a GOOD TASTE WITH WHICH YOU ADVISED ABOUT WHERE TO DINE, where and when to go. You can’t see how pleasant is the day, starting from a lazy, PICTURESQUE BREAKFAST IN AN INTIMATE PATIO, when you drink your coffee from an antique cup, squinting in the morning tender rays, listening the small fountain murmur…

You also can’t see how nice to realize how smart you’ve done choosing this QUIET CLEAN PLACE and not that one in the Bari Gothic (which is closer to all the bars), when you tipsy by night finally leaving that endlessly “fiesting” Gothic, heading you 7 min. walk to the hotel with the only wish – warm shower and crunch of shiny-clean linens. By the way, they have a FABULOUS PILLOWS made of… God knows what (some latex?..), but it feels like it was tailored specially for your head!

You also can’t see how good it feels when you’ve covered some 20 km by day and you can’t gather yourself up to plan your way for tomorrow (by the way, you can have a LAPTOP IN YOUR ROOM WITH A FREE WIFI), and you have just to ask the portier – you’ll get itinerary accurately written for you…

And finally you can’t even imagine the case, when you’re totally jaded by your flue, and the shiny Barcelona is weeping with an unexpected rain… you can choose from their collection some sweet comedy to watch on THE DVD IN YOUR ROOM and enjoy a quiet evening with a pot of tea… (inhalation in my case… :))

Well, in order to be fully objective, and just for a fly in the ointment, I should mention that the rooms are small. But since the only activity I exercised in the room was yoga (no football, no waltz, no acrobatics) I’ve done pretty well with its size.
So… Warmly advised!!!!!!!!

And thank you, Sergio and Axel, a lot.

P.S.: What are the pillows made of and what is the manufacturer? I can’t sleep on my pillow any more now… :)
