Best Place to get Pizza for Lunch in Naples?

Will be flying into Naples on a Tuesday in May around lunch time. When our driver picks us up I was thinking about going to get pizza, as Naples is the home of the Pizza, before traveling to Positano.

Dont know where to go so any suggestions are greatly appreciated! I know everyone has their own tastes but I do enjoy hearing about peoples opinions and experiences!

Do you want to visit a pizzeria in central Naples?

If so, your driver will likely charge you extra for the detour from the airport since it is out of the way and he will have to park and wait for you to eat. If you do not mind, we can give you recommendations, but if I were you, I would ask the driver to recommend a place on your route.

They say the best pizza anywhere is in Italy, and the best pizza in Italy is in Naples. Therefore, you are looking for, literally, the best pizza in the world! The link above is a good resource. For what it's worth, "Da Michele" was the pizzeria written about in "Eat, Pray, Love". If you don't mind terrible seating and waiting around for a bit, try there - it is truly supposed to be the best pizza in the world.

The point is that the OP is not going to be in central Naples.

I can recommend several places in the city, but they are not on the route from the airport to Positano.

For good food in a pleasant setting we've always enjoyed the various restaurants around the marina (the 'Borgo Marinaro') at the foot of Castel dell'Ovo...

A few photos?

You'll find a list of some that are either on, or near, the seafront on page 70 of the "Qui Napoli" magazine - a PDF version of which you can get by clicking on the word "download" here....

(No Feb/Mar edition, but hopefully they'll be back in April)

Perhaps cross-check that against the Campanian membership of the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana...

Look carefully and you'll spot an entry for Positano!
