Best place in southern Spain to visit in March?
My fiance and I are planning our honeymoon to Spain at the end of Feb early March of 2007. We plan to stay in Barcelona for the first leg of the trip (5 nights) and want to stay somewhere in on the southern coast for the second half (5 nights). We figure it will be warmer and want the last portion of our trip to be relaxful. Any suggestions???

Though they will be warmer (probably, no guarentees) than Barcelona, it will not be beach weather anywhere on the peninsula. That said, if you are looking for relaxation in the south, I would go for an apartment in some coastal area. That time is the off season, so deals will abound. Though I do not like Marbella to visit, if you want to relax and just hang out, it is a great place and cleaner than Malaga.

Try Seville - however, I don't think the southern coast of spain will be warm in early March. We were there in late March/early April 2005 and it was not swimming weather at the beaches, hotel pools were closed yet, etc. In any case, the area is beautiful, the pueblos blancos are fun to explore and Seville itself is magic.

Carnaval is big in Cadiz, but it ends on 21 Feb (Ash Wednesday). If reversing your itinerary would help you to catch the tail-end of that celebration, it might be worth considering. They say it's the best in Mainland Spain (Canaries is better).

It is not beach season, and though you may occasionally have some days of hot weather, you should not count on that. So you better relay on the cultural/gastronomic part. My suggestions:
Antequera, a monumental city in the very center of Andalucia, a joy in itself. 160 km (1h40min) from Seville, 100km (1hr.) from Granada, 60km (40min) from Málaga, all by highway; 70km (1h.) from Cordoba, hiway most of it.
Other sugestions more near Seville are Carmona (Parador) or Osuna (Hotel Marques de la Gomera). Both are monumental cities, full of Andalusian Baroque.
