Best non-chain, non-luxury hotel with GREAT VIEW in Paris??

Hi Fellow Travellers!

Looking for Paris hotel with a killer view, which is not some chain hotel or super-expensive place.

I like smaller boutique hotels or romantic bed-and-breakfast-type place.

Thank you!

I suspect the Hotel Terrasse in Montmartre has fabulous views.

I like the Hotel de Banville, which is a bit off the beaten track in the 17th. Ask for one of the upper floor rooms or the suite.

The thing about great views is that you usually have to choose view over convenience. If you want to be right in the heart of things, say the 6eme or 4eme, then you may not have a great view because you won't have the distance and perspective necessary. The better views, IMO, are to be had at the more remote hotels because they are better positioned for the panorama.

That said, I understand that there are some hotels in the 7eme that have Eiffel Tower views. That might be a nice compromise. I haven't stayed in one and so can't recommend any, but I'm sure someone will be along who can share a favorite.

The Hôtel Duquesne-Eiffel in the 7th has lovely views of the Tour Eiffel from some rooms and is very reasonably priced.

There have been numerous posts on this, if you put in "Paris hotels" in the search option, it should pull up a lot of information.

I was there 8 months ago (March) and stayed at the Hotel Kensington, Ave de la Bourdonnais, 79 (7th Arr) with a killer view of the Eiffel Tower across the street. It is not a chain and was under 80 euros a night for my double room. It was near the Metro: Ecole Militaire and also the RER: Alma stops.

I saw a lot of cute, boutique-type hotels in the area when I was walking around in the 7th and also in the 5th Arrs. I can research my past trip information further if you still need more ideas. Other posters might be able to offer more suggestions as well.

Also, I do not require a view of the Eiffel Tower. A nice view of pretty Paris rooftops would make me happy!

Thanks!

Betty,

Check out Hotel Muguet. Our room had a great view of the Eiffel Tower, although I am not sure all do. There's tons of infomation on it here. We were very happy with it and will stay again!

The website is www.hotelmuguet.com.

It is in the 7th and the prices are around 100 euros a night. I am not sure that it would be considered romantic, but it's a good hotel at a good price with great views.

Best wishes,
Sally

One main problem might be that in any given hotel, probably some of the rooms will have a great view, but not all. The question will be if you can get the hotel to guarantee you will get a view room, and have them honor that guarantee when you arrive.

Thanks, SRS and WillTravel!

Yes, I always ask about the view beforehand --before I book the room.

Will check out Hotel Muguet.

Just an FYI - Many chain hotels in Paris are old hotels that were bought by chains but still have the charm of a non-chain hotel. So, don't count out a chain hotel just because it's a chain. If there are any chain hotels with good location/view check here to see if others can comment on the atmosphere of the hotel. You may be pleasantly surprised!
