Best Italian beach with teens

I am starting to plan a trip to Italy for next summer. We will be traveling with three teen boys. I know we can't see everything and we need to get the itinerary such that the boys will be engaged. I am tossing around the idea of spending a portion of the roughly two weeks we have on a Backroads bike trip in Tuscany. If we do that, we will also visit Venice and Rome for a couple days each which leaves us three or four days for a beach. I think we need to end the trip with some time at the beach. The question is, do we start in Venice, and end up at a beach in the South or do we start in Rome and end up at a beach in the North? Any thoughts or suggestions? In terms of beach destination, I guess we are looking for something with great restaurants nearby and activities for the boys to do. Italian beaches in summer would suggest that nowhere we choose will be economical so that is less of a concern that having a great ending to the trip.

Thank you for any suggestions you may have.

I'd spend four days in Rome and then fly to Catania to spend the rest of the time in Sicily. There's some incredible beaches, great architecture and food with quiet back roads for cycling.

Where is you home airport?

How old are the teens? Would they be looking for night life or for sports? Or something else altogether?

In Venice if the teens get tired of the usual old sights send them packing to the Lido by boat - a really nice sandy beach with lots of folks there in season - you can get a hotel there for a fraction of a price in central Venice and it's only a short boat ride to San Marcos.

The teens will not be looking for nightlife. They are not that old. However, they will be looking for sports or waves or something fun. Not a toddler beach. Activities.

Thanks.

They are not that old.>
The legal drinking age in Italy has just been raised from 16 to 18!

There is snorkelling, stand up paddle boarding, jet skis and kayaks in Positano.
