Best hotel on Left Bank

Will be in Paris for personal business and would like advice on best hotel on left bank. Stayed on rue Jacob last time at the Hotel deux Continents and liked location but hotel was somewhat lacking. Suggestions please. Thanks.

what do you mean by best? why was 2 Continents lacking?

unlimited price range?

best could mean amenities or could mean location or could mean best deal for money, etc.

We just got back from Hotel d'Aubusson on rue dauphine, and thought it was fabulous. We had one of the grande luxe rooms, which was huge for Paris, and quite lavish. Service at the hotel was excellent, and the location is fantastic- almost everything you'll want to do and see is within walking distance ( to give you an idea, The Louvre is about 15 min away, Notre Dame the same, D'Orsay about 20 min, Latin Quarter about 5 minutes, great shopping/restaurants all within neighborhood).

If you liked the rue Jacob location, why don't you try La Villa St Germain. The Millesime is owned by the same people as the D'Aubusson adn we've always been satisifed with their superior rooms.

The Angleterre has just been renovated. The rooms we've had there in the past have been very large and they should be even nicer now that they have been redecorated.

Another favorite of friends is Le Madison, but only if you get one of the larger rooms.

I haven't stayed there, but some friends with lots of money love the Montalambert. Very modern and artsy.

Thanks for your replies. By "BEST" I guess I mean location first, facility next, and reasonable price last.

we've stayed at hotel Jacob on Rue des Ecoles. Great location and price. Nothing fancy but English speaking staff and very helpful. Great cafe right next door to start and end your day. I'd stay again.
