Best Driving Maps

Need info on which would be best driving maps of France, Spain, Italy. Plan to travel without using toll roads and need rather precise road directions. Suggestions?

The "michelin" answer deserves a little bit of expansion on its multiple meanings.

Michelin does publish maps; you can buy them in the US and once you are in Europe, and they really are great. Then there is the whole debate about (bound) road atlases - - versus (fold'n'unfold) highway maps.

But Michelin is also www.viamichelin.com - - and you can get specific advice on the route from point A to B - - fastest, shortest, most scenice, with or without mountain passes, etc. Of course, you probaly won't have internet access in your car in your europe - - so you will need to spend sometime on this website before your trip - - and printout some results.

Check out www.mappy.com or www.shellgeostar.com as well.

Best wishes,

Rex
I don't have the detailed info to hand, but you might want to get a road atlas of Italy, for instance, from an Italian mapmaker, probably the Touring Club of Italy.
Ditto Spain.

http://209.113.138.137/

It's available from various Internet outlets, do a web search. Rand McNally must have it. Or order it from your local book store.

Doug
