Best deal for Minivan Rental in Germany

We are looking for the best possible deal for a minivan rental out of Munich for 13 days ... We are currently getting about final cost of $1450 (Euro 1030) including taxes and insurance ... That sounds very steep to us ... not sure if it is only because we are comparing it to the US or if it is steep for Europe veteran travelers too ... We are 4 adults (and all of us are rather tall - 6 feet average height) and one child... with atleast 4 big bags and atleast 3 carry on bags ... Do not think that we will fit in a full size car ...

Does anyone have suggestions to first ground us on if this is expensive or not? And if there are any good ways to save some money on this?

Thanks,
Vibhav

Of course it's expensive. Season, type of van, cdw? Just a few more details?

Sure thing .. Season is mid June ... June 10th to June 22nd ... Type of Van is MiniVan (Volkswagen Sharan or similar) ... Basically we need a bigger 5 seater with luggage space for 4 big bags and about 3 carry on size bags ... CDW, is needed, because we are traveling to Italy as well ...

Thanks,
Vibhav

Well, actually for peak season and that size the price is quite normal. Full cdw coverage included. (And a Sharan isn't really that big, my van is bigger, better and cheaper ;-) )

Insurance is a big part of the bill. www.holidayautos.de claim they have a "Mercedes Viano" for about the same amount. I'd go for that.

Did you try Enterprise? We got a really good rate on a mini van in Germany from them. Of course, that was a few years ago and from Dusseldorf, so I guess it isn't relevant after all.

Hi,

I'd recommend getting a quote from www.gemut.com. We rented through them for our last 2 trips. Great prices and they are very knowledgable and helpful.

You have 5 people and a LOT of luggage - be sure what you reserve can in fct hold that much. We found a full size sedan really squashed for 4 adults (3 tall) and way less luggage.
