Best day to visit Orvieto?
Hello
I will be in Rome November 16-22. (first trip to Italy.) I have heard so many wonderful things about the town of Orvieto that I want to visit for the day. I think it would be nice to get out of the city and get a taste of a smaller town.
We arrive in Rome on the 16th, so that day will just be about getting acquainted with the neighborhood. The next two days will be sightseeing days. Friday was the only day I could get a Vatican tour with Scala Reale.
So that leaves Saturday or Sunday. Is any day better? I am not sure if things are open on Sundays.
Thank you for your suggestions.

Just keep in mind that the duomo in Orvieto is closed for a couple hours every day--between noon and 2, I think. And to go to Orvieto and not go inside the duomo would be to miss one of Italy's treasures.
