best beaches in Europe
My husband and I are in our late 20's and are planning a trip to Europe. We'd really like to visit a beach in the Mediterranean while we are there, but neither of us want to see naked people on the beaches. Do you know of beautiful beaches in Europe that are NOT nudist beaches? We have looked at Sardinia; do you know if there are nudist beaches on that island? Thank you so much!

I have never been to or seen a naked beach in europe in the 6 years we have lived here. You may get the occasional topless sunbather but in my experience this is limited. I think you would need to search out nudist beaches to visit them, not the other way around.
If you are looking for sandy beaches then I would head to the Greek islands or Puglia.

If you do decide on Greece and if you go to Mykonos then one beach you may want to avoid is Super Paradise which used to have a lot of nude attendees both straight and gay. Don't worry, there is no way you could stumble onto the place by accident.
There are in fact several beaches in the Med which come to mind for possible nude use; there are places on Ibiza and at least one near the town of Sitges near Barcelona in Spain amongst others.

Well not in Germany - they abound everywhere - not just on beaches but in public parks like Munich's famous Englishcer Gardens where a walk on a sunny day will see many naked folk lying about - right by the footpaths - so stay away from Germany at all costs.
Except for Germany I've never just stumbled into a nude beach - I have visited some like the famous ones in Holland (Zanndvoort area) just to see what was there but you will never stumbled into one except for in Germany where you may in public parks - so do NOT stroll thru any public park in Germany on a nice day is my advice.

Amusing. There are nudist beaches pretty much everywhere in Europe but you have to search for them generally speaking.
Jamikins, I don't know where you have been in Europe (living there for 6 years means nothing)but it isn't that difficult to find a nudist beach just about anywhere known for beaches. Here is a partial list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...aces_in_Europe
Going topless or nude is far more common in Europe than in N. America.
Pureleigh, if you don't want to see nudism you can easily not do so. If you don't want to see topless women, that is an entirely different matter and far harder to avoid.
Here is a list of beaches, it isn't hard to google all kinds of lists. http://www.timeout.com/travel/featur...s-best-beaches
That list includes Chia on Sardinia. Here's more on Chia beach.

but IME much less so than it was just a few years back - I asked my French friends about it and they said yes topless almost disappearing from French beaches whereas it had been virtually the rule for years - even at municipal swimming pools years ago I say women of all ages topless - but not anymore - topless is still legal I think but for some reason the French are becoming more modest it seems.

As you should jamikins, as you should.
Yes, I've heard it's losing popularity in France PalenQ. They claim to not want women's bodies to be a 'symbol' any more and not wanting to pander to that.
Personally, I think it is because not as many have anything worthwhile showing off. In this link, more of the right picture than the left.

What I have always referred to as a 'beached whale'. Not a pretty sight at all and all too common unfortunately. Covering up would do as a favour. I suggest a tent.
