Best base for visiting Guarda, Pontresina, and Soglio

Is it possible for one base and daytrip to the others? I am looking at St. Moritz, but from this forum, I think Pontresina or Guarda are the best. I will only have 4 days for this area. Or is this too little time to do justice to this area.

It is definitely too little time. In four days you can explore either Upper OR Lower Engadine. Pontresina is a good base. Samedan would be a better hub, though.

In case you decide fro two different bases I'd say one Sils (for Upper Engadine) and Scuol (for Lower Engadine).

Another option if you want to see both U. and L. Engadine and don't want to change bases is Zuoz.

Thanks Ingo. Do you recommend upper or lower as far as scenery. I do not hike, but I do like short walks.

I'd go for the Sils area. Lots more possibilities for day trips. (Although I love the quaintness of the Lower Engadine)

Like schuler, I like the Lower Engadine very much, but the Upper Engadine is definitely more spectacular in scenery. And Sils is the perfect place.

I think I passed through Sils on a bus in route to Soglio last September. There were a few very small towns with narrow streets. I do not remember exactly Sils, but there were all in beautiful surroundings.
