I've been looking for hotels in early August in Stockholm and am having a hard time finding something in my price range. Gamla Stan doesn't seem to have almost anything. Could anyone tell me what other areas would be nice and in a convenient location for a first-ever weekend in Sweden? Thanks.

I;m surprised - August is usually low season in Sweden. the last time we went we got the Grand hotel for about half of the usual rate.
How many are you and how much do you want to spend?
Not knowing your price range,Tucker, it's difficult to suggest lodgings. We found a comfortable hotel near the wonderful SaluHall food hall....The Mornington hotel on Nybrogatan. Easy walk down the street to Gamla Stan and many of the major city sites. The hotel has a magnificent breakfast buffet and a large library. I figure the rates are around $200 now. Look it up. I've sent quite a few people there after more recent visit, including three members of my family. All were satisfied.
