BEST AREA FOR A TOURIST TO STAY IN LISBON?

Can someone please advise what they think is the best area to stay in Lisbon which is accessible for sight seeing and near the train station in order to explore outside areas of Lisbon?

Depends on how much you want to spend!

However, if you are on a budget, then the Residencial Florascente cannot be beaten for location. Google map it.

If you have more money to spend then the Avenida Palace is very close by.

What julia_t said. You could add VIP Eden to the list, although make sure you get a room with a view over the Praça dos Restauradores.

All of the above recs are are around the train station. We loved that area. Didn't stay at the Eden but loved their roof terrace for an afternoon/evening drink.

Which train station?

I stayed near the Cais do Sodre train station and the ferry docks, so I had an easy time crossing the river and going many other places using public transportation. But I rented an apartment so I don't know what hotels are there. It is a lovely area though and it was very nice to be by that part of the river.

If it's near the Santa Justa lift, that would be a convenient
area.

We like being near restaurants, shops and cafes, but also don't mind walking to lively areas.

Do you have a link for that hotel? Sana Hotels doesn't have a listing for Just or Justa.

Danon, that area of Lisboa is called Baixa (Bi-esha).

It is very convenient for seeing Lisboa.

Be sure to visit the Gulbenkian; it is one of the best museums in the world.

My ex-husband was born in Lisboa.

Another question
We usually go to Spain in third week of Oct....the weather in Madrid is often already cool,
especially at night.
Lisbon is further south , so I assume the. Temp would be closer to southern Spain.
Correct?
