Berlin: Ku'damm or Mitte for Hotel

I'm leaving Sunday for 4 nights in Berlin. I have a hotel room at the Crowne Plaza on or near Kurfurstendamm. However, I saw an apartment available in the Mitte on Invalidenstrasse near Chausseestrasse. Which neighborhood would be better suited for a short visit? Any preferences out there? Should I consider changing my hotel?
