It would help if you would provide:

nightly budget in euros (presumably you are looking for a budget property but exactly how much)
number of people
dates

The fairgrounds are fairly close to the Western city center.
If you want convenient public transport, any hotel along the subway line 2 (currently operated as line 12) will do, e.g. around Zoo station to WIttenbergplatz subway stop.
As most conventions at the fairgrounds do not necessarily use all entrances you may want to check your convention's or fair's website to see which entrances will be in use.
From the hotel you currently have reserved you could as well flag a cab and ride to the fairgrounds for under 10 euros.
