Belleau Woods from Paris
Hello,
I am traveling to Paris for the first time in June with my parents. My dad would like us to take a day trip to Belleau Woods. What is the best way to do this without driving? Is taking the train easy? How would we get from the train to Belleau Woods?
Thanks for any help!
Kim

If you won't drive then to get to Belleau Wood you'd take a train from Gare de l'Est to Château Thierry and then you would need to get a taxi from there to Belleau Wood, which is not far away.
For train schedules from Paris to Château-Thierry use www.transilien.com. The journey will take between 45 minutes and just over 1 hour and the one-way fare is 16.90€.
There will likely be taxis at the train station when you arrive but if not just head to the tourist office and they'll help arrange transport for you. You might even e-mail/call the tourist office in advance and they might help with your travel plans/transport.

It might be worth it to hire a taxi/driver for the day or however long you plan to spend in the area. If WWI is of interest then there are many WWI sites in that area worth visiting and I'd be happy to tell you about them.

If no one replies with better advice, here is the online brochure for this area and cemetery http://www.abmc.gov/sites/default/fi..._5-13-2014.pdf
You could always email the Aisne-Marne cemetery and ask the staff there.

I've responded on other threads about WWI sites in this area and also guides who can lead tours around the area and if you read through this thread you may find some relevant info:
