Belforte??

Has anyone heard of a town called Belforte or Belforti in Tuscany? I think is supposed to be near Sienna.

Actually I staied there. The paklce is called Belforte and it is a tiny village near the somewhat larger village of Radicondoli. Right under the village there is my favorite agritourism, run by the lovely Giovanna (nice person and great cook). The village is interely built in stome and it is a pleasant place to visit, although it holds no monument. The larger (but inaccessible by foot, you will have to drive there or to trek on a good and paved road for at least one and a half hours) is more or less the same, but a bit larger (it sports a couple of bars and some shops, but no supermarket). From Belforte the view is great (check the links below for photos I took from my room or from the fromt of the agritourism), but you will need a car both for reaching the place and for moving around. Siena, San Gimignano, San Galgano, Monterigioni, Massa Marittima Casole d'Elsa, Montalcino and Volterra are all within no more than 40 minutes drives. With a far shorter drive you can bathe at Saturnia-like Galleraie Spa, visit the Montingegnoli castle, the Santa Maria medieval church in Belforte and the less scenic but nontheless interesting geoelectric plant (which also burns the leftovers from olive oil production as a backup). Also, chech out the Latteria Sociale in Colle Vald'Elsa, wich also sells great cheeses (try out their raviggiolo for a taste of XIX century, but you will have to eat it right away) and (ask for it) the Corpo Forestale dello Stato restaurant which serves deliciuos meat of the nearly disappeared chianina race.

Belforte is just a village hosting a few hundred people and it has no homesite. You can check www.comune.radicondoli.siena.it/ (it is the municipaly to which Belforte belongs to), www.provincia.siena.it, http://www.terresiena.it/ or www.turismo.toscana.it (the last two are also in English), but you wil find little specific informations about this village.
