Beginning itenerary for Croatia

Jump to last reply

Just starting on this portion of our trip and need some advice... is it realistic to drive from Budapest ( I know it costs more to do an across the border car return) to Zagreb. Then see a bit of the city and have lunch, then drive on to Plitvic Lakes. Stay overnight and spend next day hiking around the lakes and seeing the falls, then leave late afternoon and drive to Rijeka for dinner and stay overnight.

We have 7 full days after the lake before we fly home from Dubrovnik. Spending last 2 nights in Dubrovnik. With one full day to visit the city.

My husband and I are well traveled, enjoy driving thru countries on our own and can handle a fast pace.

I also could use some ideas where to spend the days between the lakes and Dubrovnik, looking for small charming towns, ocean and views, maybe a couple islands. Not so interested in museum and such at this point in the trip.

Lodging reccomendations also welcome between $100-$200 per night.

Thanks
