B&B Verhulst in Bruges - Raise your hand if you've stayed there

Based on reviews here and elsewhere on the web, and its price (80 euros inclu breakfast), I have made a reservation for B&B Verhulst when we visit Bruges later this year.

Posting to see who else have stayed here and what your thoughts are.

Try typing "verhulst" into the "search this forum" window at the top of this page. It will bring up some threads that mention it. (I didn't read the threads to see if there is any useful information).

We stayed there in 2004. Wonderful place and the best and largest breakfast you will ever eat. The owners were very gracious and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Hi gail & Myriam-

I have read the reviews here and over on tripadvisor. They all look quite good. Just wondering if anyone has stayed there recently for more input. Thanks again

Stayed there for four nights last April (exactly a year ago). The Absolut Verhulst was run by (hands down) two of the nicest people me and my family have ever met in our travels in Europe. We (myself, wife and two small girls)stayed in the big room on the top floor - it was huge and had a big loft for the girls to sleep so they had their own "space". Frieda and Benno are two of the nicest proprietors you'll ever meet - quick to suggest things to do, restaurants to eat in, chocolates to try, etc. And ask Benno to make his "special" eggs for you in the morning - a great start to the day (eggs, ham, cheese - ummmm!) I don't often remember the details of the small hotels that we usually stay in during our travels in Europe (as we don't spend a lot of time in them and look at them mainly as a place to lays our heads at the end of our busy travel days) let alone the names of the owners, but this is a special place and is the reason that we'll make sure we return to Bruges some day soon.

We stayed there for 2 nights last Sept. Everything others have stated here is "straight on". Very gracious owners. He'll cook anything for breafast to your liking. If you want a little sausage or smoked salmon in your eggs - there it is!!!

Excellent location also. Don't know what other B&Bs are like in Brugge - but if we return, I would not even attempt to seek out another B&B.

We stayed 3 nights the first week of April (just a few weeks ago).
They are quite nice and run a beautiful B&B, very helpful too.
I made a booking error, booking a night we could not stay and they charged me half price for that night.

Another vote for B&B Verhulst, we stayed there a few years back and it was lovely. As everyone says, the owners are true gems, very gracious and a nice couple. The location is very good, we would definitely stay there again.
Enjoy your visit.

My husband and I stayed 3 nights in 2005...Frieda and Benno are wonderful people--we have stayed in touch with each other ever since. Their great B&B is run with loving care--as said before, delicious breakfasts, comfortable rooms, and the hosts are fantastic.

Stayed there June 2007 for 2 nights in their family room which is on two levels, each with its own bathroom facility. Loved it! The breakfast is excellent! Frieda and Benno are the nicest people!
I left my small bag there and they sent it me without any problem (and money).
Go and enjoy!

Has anyone stayed at the Royal Stewart B&B in Bruges? We were planning to stay there (recommended by Rick Steves) but I would like to hear other people's opinions too.

We did not stay at Verhulst but we did stay at B&B (Lut & Bruno) Setola last month and it was wonderful. At 65 Euro it was a bargain too with a great breakfast included. The TA reviews are true. My trip report goes into detail.

My hand is raised, too! My husband and I were there in 2006, and wouldn't consider anyplace else if we were to go back. Benno and Frieda are the most wonderful hosts - and breakfast at their home is, without a doubt, one of the best.

Highly recommended!
