We will be in Germany this May and intend on visiting Munich. We would prefer to stay in a B&B on the outskirts of the city close to public transportation. I've done the usual Internet searchs but I'm looking for some personal experence. We would be willing to be 30 minutes from city center by train. Any suggestions?

You might take a look here:http://www.bensbauernhof.com/munichaccommodations.html
or here: http://www.bensbauernhof.com/lodgingmunichsuburbs.html
These are all based on personal recommendations.
If you're not set on the suburbs, I personally can recommend a hotel in city center, near the Hauptbahnhof and right on one of the tram lines: the Hotel Jedermann (http://www.hotel-jedermann.de/english/index.html)
Nothing fancy, but good location and very clean, with a very helpful staff. Prices are fairly reasonable, considering the location.
Thanks msnovtue. I knew of bensbauernhof, but hadn't seen that part of his website.
