B&B in Paris
We have a few days in Paris at the end of another trip. I am wondering if anyone has had good luck with any particular B&B site? I know we can use Airbnb or Homeaway for an apartment rental, but would really like a B&B. We used Alcove & Agapes with good luck, But it has been a number of years ago.
Thank you for any help with this.

There are a few traditional B&Bs in Paris that I have heard mentioned. Partly, I think, because the kind of breakfast of the guests gathering and with the host serving a friendly cooked gourmet repast, possibly with the other guests, is just not a French thing.
French breakfasts usually consist only of a croissant or tartine with a cup of coffee, not ham and eggs with toast.

Here's a good site - the places mentioned meet the requirements for approval by the City of Paris: hosts live on the premises, willing and able to give tourist advice etc, share family-style French breakfast; sometimes other meals possible, sometimes light cooking (microwave, coffee/tea) possible, sometimes fridge space possible; shared or private bathroom facilities; private bedrooms with locking doors...
It's true that this isn't a traditional "French thing" - but it's good to know there's an option for those who are looking for it.

When you search for traditional-type B&Bs in Paris, be cautious - you'll see lots of AirBnB listings (sublet apartments, many illegal), and also regular vacation rentals (most are illegal, possibly with a stocked fridge, probably not). Neither of them have anything remotely to do with a B&B (no host, no nothing, really).

http://www.gites-de-france.com/locat...=10&critinit=o does offer listings in Paris which, given the organization, should be legitimate.

What you want is a Chambre d'Hote. That is the equivalent of a B&B.
However, not all places offering Chambre d'Hote really are Chambres d'Hotes. The law is clear since 2007 that to qualify and register a Chambre d'Hote, there must be no more than 5 bedrooms; include breakfast in the price; owners must live on site. Just what a B&B is like elsewhere.
You can find them(including the site suggested by manouche) through this site: http://en.parisinfo.com/where-to-sle...-and-breakfast
As manouche points out, many illegal rentals exist on sites like Airbnb etc. Avoid them.
