Have made reservations here. It seems to be reasonable and nice. Any experiences with this"modern" B&B? It is on Ebury Street near intersection of Kings Road and Eccleston St near Sloane Sq tube.Is this a good "central location" and is this a quiet street?

I stayed there in May for a couple of nights; I really liked it.

B+B Belgravia staff were friendly and helpful -- they even let me send an order from amazon.co.uk to the hotel to arrive before I did.

The bed was comfy, the linens nice, the water pressure good.

The breakfast rom -- and the meal itself -- were lovely.

Only slightly too "modern" thing for me was the fact that the bathroom was not as private as I would have liked: WC behind a frosted glass door that went neither to the floor nor ceiling. Okay, it looked cool ... until I went to use it. I prefer a bit more privacy. Call me crazy.

I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. I loved the location, because it was within easy walking distance to Victoria Station as well as Sloane Square. It's a nice residential area, but close to tube and buslines that will get you where you want to go fast.

Yes, it was quiet although our room faced the back. The street is not super busy, but moderate. I did not find it crowded or loud, but we were there during a vacation week; not sure if that made a difference.

The WC was certainly en suite, all too en suite, if you see what I mean, but in the case of our room, it was in a little alcove of the room, separate from the shower and from the sink. I don't want to go on and on about this; I'll sound like a nut.

Our room fronted on Ebury Street, which is rather busy. Not buses and trucks and heavy bass and emergency vehicles busy, mind you, just a bit of zooming traffic. I always sleep with ear plugs when I travel (sans enfant, as this trip was), so the buzz of cars never bothered me.

fun4all4: Thanks for your though trip report. It is hard to find "cheap" anything - especially cheap eats in London. I appreciate your comments on the hotel and eats. We have not been to London since our first trip to Europe in 1973! We are going in March 2007.

As far as the bathroom "thing," ours was not like that...both our rooms had the "facilities" completely within the regular bathroom with a full door. I wonder if phyllis_stein's was an exception or if others are like that as well - you could always request a rear facing room with a private toilet Our room was on the top floor so was very private (I think ours was #17 with the boys in #16, but it could have been reversed - theirs faced the street). There were a lot of stairs to go up if that is an issue, but we loved our location within the B&B.

As for the expense of London, you just have to be prepared for it. Not everything is out of sight and so many of the museums were free (although we did make donations). Also, having two boys of tween and teen age didn't help the food budget. Really, though, it was worth it and we loved our trip!
