HI,
We have had so much great help with our holiday and so here I am again asking for your advice.
We are driving from Barcelona to Varenna and we have 5 to 6 days to do.
So where do you recommend.
We are already driving from Paris to Barcelona prior and are staying in Amboise, Sarlat and Carcassone. Not sure if that effects your choices.
I have been to Nice and Monaco before so on this trip I am thinking in the Provence somewhere . .Avignon? St Remey's? Not sure.
Ok thanking you all in advance!

did you decide against getting the ferry?
http://www.directferries.co.uk/routes.htm
I don't know how your dates work out, but there are daily sailings from Barcelona to civitavecchia, [the port near Rome] weekly sailings to Livorno, and twice weekly sailings to Genoa.
it would cut out a lot of driving, and might be an adventure for the kids.
yeah .. hubby would rather we see a bit more of France then Rome. I think the ferry looks like fun though! Might try him again on the idea.

Not sure which works out better financially but I kinda like the idea about being on the boat for a night ...it's almost like we wont lose a day travelling etc...do you know much about the ferry . .can you see the cities you pass or is it too far out at sea?
Also ... We planned on leaving Barcelona on the 8th July so I am not sure what to do about that.
I would make 2 stops----St. Remy and Menton---perhaps 2 nites each. But, I would not drive to Varenna---too far and on the wrong side of the lake. Stay on the west side--Menaggio or Lenno. Varenna only makes sense by train.
We are doing the ferry crossing! Thanks bob the navigator though for your suggestion!
go for it crazy!
I'd love to hear how it works out. Which crossing are you doing?
barcelona to Genoa ...thank you so much! Did you see my disaster ...hubby can't come for 5 weeks so I am doing one trip with my mum and then meeting up with hubby for the second 5 weeks.
Universe does strange things but I know this is going to be a great trip since I have all you helping me along the way!
yes I did read about your disaster - poor you!
but you look as if you are turning it round.
I've bmked the other thread to see if i can "help" there too!
thanks ann! I seriously don't know what I would of done without all your help!
crazy - i just hope that it all works out well, despite the change of plan.
